What to Expect During an RF Microneedling Session

During the Vivace treatment session, a dermaroller will be applied to the skin of the face. The dermaroller has insulated superfine gold-tipped needles, ensuring control and precision throughout the treatment.

The dermaroller will be used to create incredibly tiny microinjuries in the skin tissues. These microinjuries will initiate the healing response and rejuvenation. The microneedles will emit RF energy in the skin tissues, further triggering the healing response.

Vivace RF Microneedling is a safe and effective option for all skin tones and skin types, including darker skin. If you are in need of a rejuvenation solution that requires no downtime and doesn’t involve any scalpels or incisions, you are an excellent candidate for Vivace. People showing signs of aging, such as sagging skin, wrinkles, acne scars, sunspots, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone and texture, are excellent candidates for the treatment. It is ideal for clients in their 20s and 30s, when the collagen production it can stimulate is very significant. Patients of all ages can benefit from Vivace. Microneedling is not recommended for patients with active acne, wound-healing problems, or other active infections.
Your choice of whether to get RF microneedling or IPL (intense pulsed light) treatment mainly depends on your aesthetic goals. The unique nuances of your skin must also be taken into account. Vivace RF microneedling is the best option when it comes to rejuvenating skin texture while also addressing the different signs of aging. Not only does RF microneedling penetrate the dermis layer of the skin better, it also improves the overall texture and tone of your skin. This gives your skin a more refreshed and youthful appearance. IPL is not as effective as RF microneedling when it comes to boosting new collagen production, since RF microneedling stimulates collagen and remodels the skin from the inside out. Because of this, if getting rid of wrinkles or depressed acne scars is your main priority, RF microneedling is the best option. One of the main benefits of RF microneedling is that it is ideal for people whose skin is sensitive to heat and to the thermal impacts of other energy-based treatments. RF microneedling does not heat through the skin. Instead, it deposits the heat deep inside the skin with the help of very fine needles. Thus, it does not pose the same pigment-change risks as IPL. Because of this, RF microneedling is a better option for people of Asian descent and people with darker skin types. These skin types are more prone to hyperpigmentation issues, and so extra care is required for preparing these skin types for any skin procedure.
Before a Vivace treatment session, it will be necessary to avoid any exfoliating agents or other astringents for at least a day. Patients who are prone to cold sores may need to take antiviral medications in the time leading up to the day of the treatment. Avoiding direct sunlight or getting into tanning beds a few days before the treatment is also important. You should also avoid using topical acids, retinoids, anti-inflammatory medications, Accutane, blood-thinning agents, and laser treatments.
Treatment length varies based on the area of treatment but the average is approximately 20 to 45 minutes. Including consultation and numbing, sessions may run 90 minutes or more.
We will apply topical numbing cream before the Microneedling treatment to minimize pain and maximize comfort. Once the skin is numb, you may feel light pressure while the device is in use. Most clients find the treatment to be comfortable with virtually no pain or downtime. Pain tolerance levels vary by client, but we will make sure that you feel comfortable.
There is no downtime for Vivace treatment, but depending on the client, you may experience redness, irritation, and itching for 2 hours to a day. Avoid make-up for at least 6 hours. Do not use hydroquinone (the ingredient often used in skincare to brighten and whiten the skin). Avoid swimming, steam rooms, and vigorous exercise. Avoid direct sun exposure, since your skin will temporarily be more prone to sun damage. Avoid waxing and tanning booths for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
Every patient is unique but typically you will be able to see the results in as few as 3 treatments. It is possible to notice an improvement in your skin after 1 treatment.
The required number of treatments varies by client needs, the area treated, and the goal. It is safe to repeat this treatment every 4 to 6 weeks. It is possible to see improvement in your skin with the first treatment but for better results we recommend 3 to 6 treatments.
For scar reduction, once healed, the result will be semi-permanent. Results vary because the collagen you make is your own and will continue accelerated production over three months. Results increase over time. For long-lasting results, a good home skincare routine is necessary. To minimize the risk of new sun damage, it will be helpful to always wear sunscreen with a proper SPF (30 or higher) and to reapply regularly.
