Well, we made it through another Spring, Summer, and Fall and now in our glorious Winter season we get the opportunity to welcome in a whole new wonderful year!

Every new year is another new chance to grow and thrive!

And every new year is another chance to set new goals, to reach for the sky, and to be good to yourself!

So what is your plan for this new year?

What if we planned to embrace a fresh start with a whole new mindset; a fresh new outlook where YOU are more important? A reset of sorts.

This is your time. This is your year. Make yourself the priority you deserve to be. You have earned it! Let’s begin this brand-new year with allowing ourselves the self-care we deserve.

With putting yourself as a priority in mind; here are some ways to nurture Mind, Body and Soul. Because all are important.

A great way to start out on the most positive footing is to practice and implement a mindfulness strategy.

What is Mindfulness or Mindful Thinking?

Wikipedia says, “Mindfulness is the psychological process of purposely bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment, which one can develop through the practice of meditation and through other training.”

So, in other words, recognizing or being aware of your current state and situation but allowing yourself to feel what you feel in a more gentle way.

Mindfulness is about accepting what is, so paying attention and feeling your feelings but without judging them. In mindfulness we are in the moment, not reliving or rehashing past occurrences, or imagining and worrying about the future. It is about being present, in the “now” and that that is okay.

Do you feel unwell? Are you tired? Worn out?

Heal thy body.

But, how?

Sometimes getting moving is key. Consider adding an activity like yoga to your day. Practices like yoga have been widely lauded for their healing capabilities. Or if you are looking for something even more active, anything from gentle movement to vigorous exercise might be for you. The main idea is to get moving. A body in motion, tends to stay in motion, and it is good for your body to move.

What about being good to your body? When was the last time you did something just because it felt good? We all deserve to feel good and to feel taken care of. So, pamper yourself! Maybe you could treat yourself to a nourishing HydraFacial or an AquaGold treatment at your local Medical Beauty Spa.

What do you believe in? Maybe you believe in an all knowing being like God, or maybe your belief system is more spiritual, with focus on being a good, honest, genuine person.

Wikipedia says, “The soul, in many religious, philosophical, and mythological traditions, is the incorporeal essence of a living being. Soul or psyche comprises the mental abilities of a living being: reason, character, feeling, consciousness, memory, perception, thinking, etc.”

So our soul is a combination of our mental faculties, morals and character? Interesting.

Some feel the soul is, “the person you are”. What you feel… think… believe in.

So this year maybe a practical way to lighten your soul is to believe in something. I am not suggesting you believe in any particular way. I am not suggesting you join an organized religion, although that belief system may aid in spiritual peace. I am suggesting that you choose to believe in something. Maybe it’s mankind as a whole.. Maybe it is your own self. Believe in your potential and your impact on the world. But believe. Have faith. It can help bring about a calm feeling of peace.

Embrace a Fresh New Start

Let’s plan to embrace a fresh start with a whole new mindset; a fresh new outlook where YOU are more important. A reset of sorts.

Ask yourself these questions: Do you feel unwell? Are you tired? Worn out? Stressed out? Does your skin feel dull, dry, dried out? These past few years have been an unprecedented and difficult time in our history, and with that has come much emotional, and at times physical, baggage.

Maybe it’s time to try to undo some of that.

Be Good to Yourself

So how about simply choosing to be good to yourself?

Practicing self-care and indeed, self-love, does help to bring about feelings of peace. Because we know when we feel better on the outside, we also feel better on the inside.
